Perry video hits Romney through Obama, Hayes

Via Jed Lewison at Daily Kos, Rick Perry has released another web video attacking Mitt Romney. Unlike the last one, this Perry campaign video is professionally done and packs a heavy punch. Lewison writes:

If you're not a Republican, the ad is crack-me-up hilarious, not just because of its stylistic qualities, but also because in order to accuse Mitt Romney of being a stealth liberal Democrat, Rick Perry not only relies on video clips of Chris Hayes and Barack Obama to make his point, he also attacks Mitt Romney's wealth, saying "even the richest man can't buy back his past."

So to position himself as a true conservative, Rick Perry isn't just using the words of a progressive journalist and a Democratic president, he's also practicing a bit of what Republicans like to call "class warfare." As Stephen Colbert would say, that's a tip of the cap and a wag of the finger.
Jed is right, this is a fun ad to watch if you're not a Republican. But as the race remains "Romney vs Not Romney," the GOP seems likely to poison the water for whoever comes out of their primary. If it's Romney, the GOP field will have spent the better part of two years surfacing his flaws as a candidate. If it's someone other than Romney, well you'll be surprised to learn that the Tea Party doesn't poll quite so well with non-Republicans as it did in the spring of 2009. In any event, I hope the Perry campaign continues to produce watchable videos like this one as it will make the next year a lot more enjoyable.
