Karger ad in NH hits GOP for booing gay soldier

Fred Karger, the career Republican operative from California who is openly gay and trying his darnedest to get into a Republican presidential debate, has released this web ad which his campaign says will be airing tonight at the Grafton County Republican Committee Columbus Day Dinner. The ad points out that Karger has in the past met requirements to be included in GOP debates (requirements which other participants did not meet), specifically debates hosted by Fox News. Recently the Karger campaign also highlighted that Rick Perry does not technically qualify for tomorrow's Bloomberg debate in New Hampshire.

Karger is only occasionally included in polls, though when he is, he performs about as well as Rick Santorum or Jon Huntsman. He isn't going to win the nomination, but as with Gary Johnson, his voice is very different from the rest of the field and the debates would benefit from his inclusion. It's unfortunate that media outlets are making biased political decisions to change their own rules to keep out Karger, while ignoring their rules to let flash-in-the-pan candidates like Rick Perry in. Karger deserves a chance to be accepted or rejected based on the merits of his arguments as a fairly moderate, pro-equality Republican. After all, if Herm Cain - a businessman with no political experience and little reputation nationally - can use debates to propel him up near the top of the polls, Karger should get the same opportunity.
