Is Romney calling for a re-escalation of the Iraq War?

Mitt Romney is set to give a speech today on foreign policy. They included a healthy dose of the people who were the most wrong about the biggest foreign policy debacle of my lifetime, Iraq. Proving once again that it's impossible to be laughed out the foreign policy establishment in the Republican party.

Mr. Romney rolled out his team of foreign-policy advisers this week, a group heavy with former officials who worked in the Pentagon, State Department and intelligence agencies under President Bush, including several who were big backers of the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

In Iraq his plan seems to call for a re-escalation of the war with Iraq. In a briefing he says that he would listen defer to generals on Afghanistan and that unnamed "US Generals" think we're bringing out troops home too quickly from Iraq.

On Afghanistan, Romney aides said the governor would defer to U.S. military commanders on how and when to reduce the U.S. military presence there. One Romney aide, in a briefing with reporters before the speech, said President Obama had pulled U.S. troops out of Iraq too quickly, against the wishes of U.S. generals in the Middle East.

Since the vast majority of American troops are set to be home by the Jan. 20th, 2013 one has to wonder, is Mitt Romney advocating that we resend tens of thousands of troops to Iraq, against the wishes of the Iraqi government?
