Romney: Roe v Wade - One of the darkest moments in supreme court history

I realize that Mitt Romney's promised to do everything he can to overturn Roe vs. Wade in a bargain to get the Republican nomination. Mitt Romney wants to let anti-choice voters know that he's willing to do anything to get their vote. Take his statement today on the 39th anniversary of the landmark Roe vs Wade decision that made abortion legal and codified the right to privacy for individuals. Not only does Romney want to overturn Roe and make abortions illegal, he also wants thinks that Roe v Wade is "one of the darkest moments in Supreme court history."

“Today marks the 39th anniversary of one of the darkest moments in Supreme Court history, when the court in Roe v. Wade claimed authority over the fundamental question regarding the rights of the unborn. The result is millions of lives since that day have been tragically silenced. Since that day, the pro-life movement has been working tirelessly in an effort to change hearts and minds and protect the weakest and most vulnerable among us. Today, we recommit ourselves to reversing that decision, for in the quiet of conscience, people of both political parties know that more than a million abortions a year cannot be squared with the good heart of America.”
I'm not sure that many Republicans would elevate Roe as one of the "darkest moments" in history. Does Mitt Romney think a right to privacy and a right of choice for abortions is worse than Dred Scott? the internement of American citizens of Japanese decent? the codification of separate but equal in Plessy v Ferguson? legally allowing individuals to be sterilized against their will?

There's nothing moderate about Mitt Romney on women's rights.
