Kenneth the Page Bobby Jindal has endorsed Rick Perry, positioning Perry well to secure the votes of Republicans who don't think we should spend money to monitor earthquakes and volcanos.
There's already some talk on Twitter of a Perry/Jindal ticket. It will be interesting to see how Conventional Wisdom forms around today's dueling endorsements of the Republican front runners. Is Tim Pawlenty a possible VP for Romney? Jindal for Perry? I think it's safe to predict that Republicans will find the idea of putting a non-white man on the ticket attractive (unless something bizarre happens and either Herm Cain or Michele Bachmann wins the nomination). In many ways, Palin's selection was a misguided appeal to Hillary Clinton voters. I don't know what the 2012 version of that sort of cynicism from the GOP will look like, though the patina of diversity is certainly something that they will likely want to put forth as they run against America's first incumbent African-American president.
