Mike Huckabee goes for the Birther vote, with an anti-colonialist bankshot. Media Matters:
Speaking on WOR's The Steve Malzberg Show, Huckabee -- a Fox News host and potential presidential candidate -- said that "one thing that I do know is his having grown up in Kenya, his view of the Brits, for example, very different than the average American ... his perspective as growing up in Kenya with a Kenyan father and grandfather, their view of the Mau Mau Revolution in Kenya is very different than ours because he probably grew up hearing that the British are a bunch of imperialists who persecuted his grandfather."Obviously Obama did not grow up in Kenya. Huckabee goes on to dodge actually demanding for President Obama's birth certificate because the Clinton machine would have found it if there was something amiss:
Huckabee was later asked if he would bring up the issue of Obama's birth certificate during a presidential debate. Huckabee replied: "The only reason I'm not as confident that there's something about the birth certificate, Steve, is because I know the Clintons [inaudible] and believe me, they have lots of investigators out on him, and I'm convinced if there was anything that they could have found on that, they would have found it, and I promise they would have used it."It's deeply disturbing that Huckabee goes this far down the rabbit hole with the Birther accusations. The twists he takes in this clip really demand a new nickname: Huckabirther. The only logical question is whether or not full on Birthers will buy into Huckabirtherism, or whether they will reject it as some sort of inauthentic half-measure.
